Whether you are a longtime fan or discovering it for the first time, Scott and Sid rewards viewers who know what to look for. Directed by Scott Elliott, the project blends drama and comedy into something that lingers long after the credits. Below you'll find an honest look at the story, the people behind it, and whether it deserves a spot in your queue.
What is Scott and Sid about?
At its core, Scott and Sid follows a story that unfolds like this: From their first encounter as teenagers in high school, Scott and Sid seem unlikely friends. Scott is a shambolic dreamer, intent on carving out his own path in life and holding up a metaphorical middle finger to anyone who tries to stop him. He is a quintessential troubled teen: on his fifth high school by the age of fifteen, alienated from his peers, crippled by recurring nightmares and disliked by his own foster parents. Sid, on the other hand, wants nothing more than to be liked. An unconfident, awkward recluse through circumstance, Sid's impoverished and dysfunctional background leave him no time for friends and no money for hobbies.
Rather than rushing, the film lets tension build naturally, trusting the audience to keep up. The tagline — "The difference between your dreams and reality is a leap of faith." — captures that tone perfectly.
