Few comedy titles spark as much curiosity as The Honeymoon Machine. Below is a deep dive into what makes it worth your time. Directed by Richard Thorpe, the project blends comedy into something that lingers long after the credits. Below you'll find an honest look at the story, the people behind it, and whether it deserves a spot in your queue.
Inside the story of The Honeymoon Machine
The narrative of The Honeymoon Machine unfolds like this: Lt. Fergie Howard teams up with Lt. Beau Gilliam and Navy scientist Jason Eldridge to turn a supercomputer with missile-tracking capabilities into a tool to predict where a roulette ball will land. They dock in Venice, Italy, and begin making a killing at the casino, but their shore-to-ship signals get misinterpreted as signs of attack by Adm. Fitch, putting a serious crimp in the officers' get-rich-quick scheme.
What sets it apart is how it treats its comedy elements not as decoration but as the engine of the plot. The tagline — "Fits either sex... and makes nothing but laughter!" — captures that tone perfectly.
