What is The Castle of Cagliostro about?
At its core, The Castle of Cagliostro follows a story that unfolds like this: After a successful robbery leaves famed thief Lupin the Third and his partner Jigen with nothing but a large amount of expertly crafted counterfeit bills, he decides to track down the forgers responsible—and steal any other treasures he may find in the Castle of Cagliostro, including the 'damsel in distress' he finds imprisoned there.
Rather than rushing, the film lets tension build naturally, trusting the audience to keep up. The tagline — "Believe in the Thief." — captures that tone perfectly. For a frame-by-frame breakdown, the dedicated Wikipedia entry and IMDb trivia pages are excellent companions.
