What is The Forest about?
The narrative of The Forest unfolds like this: Set in the Aokigahara Forest, a real-life place in Japan where people go to end their lives. Against this backdrop, a young American woman comes in search of her twin sister, who has mysteriously disappeared.
What sets it apart is how it treats its horror, thriller, and mystery elements not as decoration but as the engine of the plot. The tagline — "Everyone comes here looking for a way out" — captures that tone perfectly. For a frame-by-frame breakdown, the dedicated Wikipedia entry and IMDb trivia pages are excellent companions.
