The Dark Side of the Moon (1990) has become one of the most talked-about horror, action, thriller, and science fiction films, and this guide covers everything you need before you press play. Directed by D.J. Webster, the project blends horror, action, thriller, and science fiction into something that lingers long after the credits. Below you'll find an honest look at the story, the people behind it, and whether it deserves a spot in your queue.
Inside the story of The Dark Side of the Moon
At its core, The Dark Side of the Moon follows a story that unfolds like this: It is the year 2022. A mysterious systems failure causes the crew of a spaceship to be stranded on the dark side of the moon, while rapidly running out of fuel and oxygen. They are surprised to discover a NASA space shuttle floating in space, and board it in the hope of salvaging some supplies. One by one, the crew is possessed and killed, and it is up to Paxton Warner to find the links between the dark side of the moon, the Bermuda Triangle, and the Devil himself.
What sets it apart is how it treats its horror, action, thriller, and science fiction elements not as decoration but as the engine of the plot. The tagline — "Beyond Rescue ... Beyond Reason ... Beyond Salvation" — captures that tone perfectly. For a frame-by-frame breakdown, the dedicated Wikipedia entry and IMDb trivia pages are excellent companions.
