Whether you are a longtime fan or discovering it for the first time, Queen of Blood rewards viewers who know what to look for. Led by Florence Marly and Basil Rathbone, the film balances spectacle with character. Below you'll find an honest look at the story, the people behind it, and whether it deserves a spot in your queue.
What is Queen of Blood about?
At its core, Queen of Blood follows a story that unfolds like this: A spaceship is sent to Mars after an alien distress signal is picked up. They find one survivor, but when a crew member is found drained of blood it's evident they have rescued a bloodsucking monster. (Uses footage from Encounter in Space (1963).)
The pacing rewards patient viewers, layering small details that pay off later. The tagline — "NEW HIGHS IN BLOOD CHILLING HORROR!" — captures that tone perfectly. For a frame-by-frame breakdown, the dedicated Wikipedia entry and IMDb trivia pages are excellent companions.
