Whether you are a longtime fan or discovering it for the first time, Canis rewards viewers who know what to look for. Directed by Marc Riba, the project blends animation and horror into something that lingers long after the credits. Below you'll find an honest look at the story, the people behind it, and whether it deserves a spot in your queue.
The premise of Canis, explained
At its core, Canis follows a story that unfolds like this: Teo survives, isolated in a house constantly besieged by a horde of stray dogs. It seems destiny has no other plans, than keeping Theo there, until one day something obscure happens. Canis is a story about fears and how we can face them. A story about coming of age. A story of finding reasons to fight.
What sets it apart is how it treats its animation and horror elements not as decoration but as the engine of the plot. Themes of ambition, loyalty, and consequence run throughout. For a frame-by-frame breakdown, the dedicated Wikipedia entry and IMDb trivia pages are excellent companions.
