What is Wonderful Days about?
At its core, Wonderful Days follows a story that unfolds like this: Civilization has been destroyed by war and pollution, but the survivors have built the last city of Ecoban. As most natural resources have been exhausted, Ecoban is powered by pollution. The citizens of Ecoban need to continue creating this pollution leading them into conflict with the inhabitants of Marr while one man just wants to clear away the clouds and see the sky.
What sets it apart is how it treats its animation and science fiction elements not as decoration but as the engine of the plot. The tagline — "A fantastic journey to the future begins." — captures that tone perfectly. For a frame-by-frame breakdown, the dedicated Wikipedia entry and IMDb trivia pages are excellent companions.
