Wild Beasts (1984) has become one of the most talked-about action, adventure, and horror films, and this guide covers everything you need before you press play. Led by Lorraine De Selle and John Aldrich, the film balances spectacle with character. Below you'll find an honest look at the story, the people behind it, and whether it deserves a spot in your queue.
The premise of Wild Beasts, explained
At its core, Wild Beasts follows a story that unfolds like this: PCP is unexplainably released into the Frankfurt water supply and sends the zoo inhabitants crazy. One evening after a malfunction of zoo security the gonzo critters rampage through the city eating and killing whatever they fancy, wreaking a night of bloody terror.
What sets it apart is how it treats its action, adventure, and horror elements not as decoration but as the engine of the plot. Themes of ambition, loyalty, and consequence run throughout. For a frame-by-frame breakdown, the dedicated Wikipedia entry and IMDb trivia pages are excellent companions.
