Directed by Josh Reed, the project blends crime and thriller into something that lingers long after the credits. Below you'll find an honest look at the story, the people behind it, and whether it deserves a spot in your queue.
The premise of We're Not Here to Fuck Spiders, explained
We're Not Here to Fuck Spiders centers on a premise that unfolds like this: In early 2018, an email was sent to a select group of journalists and politicians in Australia, containing a link to thousands of hours of secretly filmed footage documenting day to day life in an ice dealer's house in South Sydney. The footage was refined down to this story of the ice dealer, Anton Berger, his girlfriend Effs, whom he keeps imprisoned in the house, his crew, Pincer, Bezza and Ahmed, and the bikers and corrupt cops he deals with.
What sets it apart is how it treats its crime and thriller elements not as decoration but as the engine of the plot. The tagline — "A Found Noir" — captures that tone perfectly. For a frame-by-frame breakdown, the dedicated Wikipedia entry and IMDb trivia pages are excellent companions.
