Walker Creek (2022) has become one of the most talked-about science fiction films, and this guide covers everything you need before you press play. Directed by Alex Hera, the project blends science fiction into something that lingers long after the credits. Below you'll find an honest look at the story, the people behind it, and whether it deserves a spot in your queue.
Inside the story of Walker Creek
Walker Creek centers on a premise that unfolds like this: Walker Creek is a small town with a dark secret: a hidden society of parasitic aliens taking over human hosts and turning them into shapeshifting creatures known as skinwalkers or the Hosted, with a secret human rebellion fighting for decades to stop them. After acquiring VHS tapes with evidence of the infestation from his recently-deceased father George, Daniel Shephard realizes that he has to find the truth behind his hometown, discover how to stop the Hosted, and figure out how his father was involved.
Rather than rushing, the film lets tension build naturally, trusting the audience to keep up. The tagline — "Horror, Found Footage, ARG" — captures that tone perfectly. For a frame-by-frame breakdown, the dedicated Wikipedia entry and IMDb trivia pages are excellent companions.
