The Velvet Touch

The Velvet Touch centers on a premise that unfolds like this: Stage actress Valerie Stanton is locked in a bitter feud with her producer and ex Gordon Dunning. When he attempts to blackmail her into remaining under contract with his company, Stanton, in a fit of passion, clubs Dunning with a statuette, killing him. Her gloves have prevented fingerprints but her perfect alibi quickly unravels as Captain Danbury begins investigating.

Rather than rushing, the film lets tension build naturally, trusting the audience to keep up. The tagline — "Rosalind has her eye on three men... three men have their eye on Rosalind... one of them is up to no good!" — captures that tone perfectly.
