The Taming of the Shrew plot and story overview
The narrative of The Taming of the Shrew unfolds like this: Italy, 16th century. Petruchio, a choleric, lying and poor rural landowner from Verona, arrives in Padua in search of fortune and a wife, while Baptista, a wealthy merchant, announces that he will not allow Bianca, his youngest daughter, to marry until the temperamental and unruly Katherina, his eldest daughter, does.
What sets it apart is how it treats its comedy and romance elements not as decoration but as the engine of the plot. The tagline — "The motion picture they were made for!" — captures that tone perfectly. For a frame-by-frame breakdown, the dedicated Wikipedia entry and IMDb trivia pages are excellent companions.
