If The Experts is on your watchlist, here is the complete breakdown — plot, cast, ratings, and where to stream it in HD. Led by John Travolta and Arye Gross, the film balances spectacle with character. Below you'll find an honest look at the story, the people behind it, and whether it deserves a spot in your queue.
The Experts plot and story overview
At its core, The Experts follows a story that unfolds like this: Travis and Wendell are two down-on-their-luck New Yorkers who think they're relocating to a small town in Nebraska to open a nightclub. What they don't know is they've actually been abducted by a KGB operative and flown to the Soviet Union, where they'll unwittingly serve as "experts" on all things cool in America. The town, created expressly for KGB spies-in-training, is meant to serve as a training ground for Soviet agents. What can these two hapless Americans possibly teach the Soviet spies, and will they ever learn they are not actually in Nebraska?
Rather than rushing, the film lets tension build naturally, trusting the audience to keep up. The tagline — "Two abducted Americans are going to tell the Russians everything they know. Poor Russia." — captures that tone perfectly. For a frame-by-frame breakdown, the dedicated Wikipedia entry and IMDb trivia pages are excellent companions.
