What is The Degenerates about?
The narrative of The Degenerates unfolds like this: A series of bawdy and satirical episodes written during the reign of the emperor Nero and set in imperial Rome. Like the more famous version made by Federico Fellini, an adaptation of Petronius' Satyricon.
What sets it apart is how it treats its comedy, drama, and history elements not as decoration but as the engine of the plot. The tagline — "They always go down to the lowest depths of human sensuality!" — captures that tone perfectly.
