Few comedy and fantasy titles spark as much curiosity as The Brand New Testament. Below is a deep dive into what makes it worth your time. Led by Pili Groyne and Benoît Poelvoorde, the film balances spectacle with character. Below you'll find an honest look at the story, the people behind it, and whether it deserves a spot in your queue.
The premise of The Brand New Testament, explained
The Brand New Testament centers on a premise that unfolds like this: God lives in Brussels. On Earth though, God is a coward, morally pathetic and odious to his family. His daughter, Ea, is bored at home and can't stand being locked up in a small apartment in ordinary Brussels, until the day she decides to revolt against her dad...
What sets it apart is how it treats its comedy and fantasy elements not as decoration but as the engine of the plot. The tagline — "God Exists. He Lives in Brussels with his daughter." — captures that tone perfectly. For a frame-by-frame breakdown, the dedicated Wikipedia entry and IMDb trivia pages are excellent companions.
