The Abduction (1996) has become one of the most talked-about drama and tv movie films, and this guide covers everything you need before you press play. Led by Victoria Principal and Robert Hays, the film balances spectacle with character. Below you'll find an honest look at the story, the people behind it, and whether it deserves a spot in your queue.
The Abduction plot and story overview
The narrative of The Abduction unfolds like this: Kate finds herself in harrowing danger when her cop ex-husband, Paul, will stop at nothing to get her back -- and the harassment, which includes sexual assault and battery, doesn't end because the authorities won't hear of it. Also at the receiving end of the maniacal stalker is Kate's boyfriend, Dan.
What sets it apart is how it treats its drama and tv movie elements not as decoration but as the engine of the plot. The tagline — "They were separated by law... until he took it into his own hands" — captures that tone perfectly.
