Inside the story of Speak of the Devil
At its core, Speak of the Devil follows a story that unfolds like this: A phoney evangelist and his nympho wife buy a house in Los Angeles with plans to turn it into "The Church of Latter Day Sin." However, the house turns out to be haunted--which doesn't stop the wife, who, unbeknownst to her husband, cuts a deal with the Devil.
What sets it apart is how it treats its comedy and horror elements not as decoration but as the engine of the plot. The tagline — "A Wacky Romp On the Wrong Side of Heaven." — captures that tone perfectly. For a frame-by-frame breakdown, the dedicated Wikipedia entry and IMDb trivia pages are excellent companions.
