What is Silk Stockings about?
The narrative of Silk Stockings unfolds like this: After three bumbling Soviet agents fail in their mission to retrieve a straying Soviet composer from Paris, the beautiful, ultra-serious Ninotchka is sent to complete their mission and to retrieve them. She starts out condemning the decadent West, but gradually falls under its spell—with the help of an American movie producer. A remake of Ninotchka (1939).
What sets it apart is how it treats its comedy and romance elements not as decoration but as the engine of the plot. The tagline — "Sheer delight!" — captures that tone perfectly. For a frame-by-frame breakdown, the dedicated Wikipedia entry and IMDb trivia pages are excellent companions.
