Open Season plot and story overview
The narrative of Open Season unfolds like this: Three Vietnam vets have become so conditioned to violence that they have developed psychotic tendencies. They kidnap people, brutalize them, then turn them loose and hunt them like animals. However the father of one of their earlier victims is plotting a vicious revenge against them.
What sets it apart is how it treats its action, drama, and thriller elements not as decoration but as the engine of the plot. The tagline — "Meet Ken, Gregg and Art. Two weeks each year they get away... with Everything!" — captures that tone perfectly. For a frame-by-frame breakdown, the dedicated Wikipedia entry and IMDb trivia pages are excellent companions.
