The premise of One Missed Call, explained
At its core, One Missed Call follows a story that unfolds like this: People mysteriously start receiving voicemail messages from their future selves, in the form of the sound of them reacting to their own violent deaths, along with the exact date and time of their future death, listed on the message log. The plot thickens as the surviving characters pursue the answers to this mystery which could save their lives.
What sets it apart is how it treats its horror, mystery, and fantasy elements not as decoration but as the engine of the plot. The tagline — "Death cannot be put on hold..." — captures that tone perfectly. For a frame-by-frame breakdown, the dedicated Wikipedia entry and IMDb trivia pages are excellent companions.
