My Friend The Sun plot and story overview
At its core, My Friend The Sun follows a story that unfolds like this: Diego, a father struggling to give his daughter Xóchitl a real home, sees his life transformed when the mural she paints opens a portal to Tollan, the realm of the Mexica gods. As Xóchitl is chosen as a possible Sixth Sun, the ambitious Tezcatlipoca plots to claim that power. Separated between worlds, father and daughter must face deception, gods, and their own flaws to reunite. With the help of unexpected allies, they discover that true strength is born from sacrifice, trust, and faith in humanity.
What sets it apart is how it treats its animation and family elements not as decoration but as the engine of the plot. The tagline — "The inherent search for identity" — captures that tone perfectly.
