Whether you are a longtime fan or discovering it for the first time, Innocent Lies rewards viewers who know what to look for. Led by Gabrielle Anwar and Stephen Dorff, the film balances spectacle with character. Below you'll find an honest look at the story, the people behind it, and whether it deserves a spot in your queue.
Innocent Lies plot and story overview
At its core, Innocent Lies follows a story that unfolds like this: In September 1938 a British detective comes to a small French coastal town in order to investigate the death of a colleague. Prime suspects are the members of English aristocratic family with plenty of skeletons in the closet. This is a loose adaptation of the Agatha Christie novel Towards Zero.
Rather than rushing, the film lets tension build naturally, trusting the audience to keep up. The tagline — "The truth is deadly" — captures that tone perfectly. For a frame-by-frame breakdown, the dedicated Wikipedia entry and IMDb trivia pages are excellent companions.
