Á Huldu - The Hidden Ones

Á Huldu - The Hidden Ones centers on a premise that unfolds like this: In the Icelandic countryside, a news cameraman is found dead under unsettling circumstances, his reporter colleague has vanished without a trace. The mystery remains unsolved. Years later, a documentary crew retraces the investigation, piecing together fragments of testimony, archival material, and newly uncovered footage. What begins as a cold case review becomes something more elusive as new evidence reveals hidden connections and unanswered questions. Á Huldu – The Hidden Ones is an 85-minute English and Icelandic-language feature that adopts a true-crime documentary framework to explore the instability of truth, the ethics of observation, and the persistence of unresolved narratives.

What sets it apart is how it treats its documentary and horror elements not as decoration but as the engine of the plot. The tagline — "In Iceland, disappearances are rare. This is the exception." — captures that tone perfectly. For a frame-by-frame breakdown, the dedicated Wikipedia entry and IMDb trivia pages are excellent companions.
