Few drama, horror, and thriller titles spark as much curiosity as Home Movie. Below is a deep dive into what makes it worth your time. Led by Adrian Pasdar and Cady McClain, the film balances spectacle with character. Below you'll find an honest look at the story, the people behind it, and whether it deserves a spot in your queue.
The premise of Home Movie, explained
At its core, Home Movie follows a story that unfolds like this: Reverend David Poe and his psychiatrist wife trade hectic New York life for an idyllic rural farmhouse; the perfect place for 10 year old twins Jack & Emily to run, play and imagine. Documenting this lifestyle change, David decides to film every holiday and special family event. To the Poe's horror their home movies reveal an increasing malice and evil within their children.
Rather than rushing, the film lets tension build naturally, trusting the audience to keep up. The tagline — "Some memories are best forgotten." — captures that tone perfectly. For a frame-by-frame breakdown, the dedicated Wikipedia entry and IMDb trivia pages are excellent companions.
