Evil Dead II (1987) has become one of the most talked-about horror, comedy, and fantasy films, and this guide covers everything you need before you press play. Led by Bruce Campbell and Sarah Berry, the film balances spectacle with character. Below you'll find an honest look at the story, the people behind it, and whether it deserves a spot in your queue.
Evil Dead II plot and story overview
Evil Dead II centers on a premise that unfolds like this: Ash Williams and his girlfriend Linda find a log cabin in the woods with a voice recording from an archeologist who had recorded himself reciting ancient chants from "The Book of the Dead." As they play the recording an evil power is unleashed taking over Linda's body.
Rather than rushing, the film lets tension build naturally, trusting the audience to keep up. The tagline — "Kiss your nerves goodbye!" — captures that tone perfectly. For a frame-by-frame breakdown, the dedicated Wikipedia entry and IMDb trivia pages are excellent companions.
