If Diary of a Mad Housewife is on your watchlist, here is the complete breakdown — plot, cast, ratings, and where to stream it in HD. Led by Carrie Snodgress and Richard Benjamin, the film balances spectacle with character. Below you'll find an honest look at the story, the people behind it, and whether it deserves a spot in your queue.
What is Diary of a Mad Housewife about?
At its core, Diary of a Mad Housewife follows a story that unfolds like this: Tina Balser is a bored New York housewife-mother married to Jonathan, a pompous, social-climbing lawyer who ridicules her in front of their children, criticizing everything she does or wears. She begins an affair with George Prager, a dashing, successful, and blatantly sadistic writer.
Rather than rushing, the film lets tension build naturally, trusting the audience to keep up. The tagline — "It can happen to any married woman anywhere, anytime...it happened to Tina." — captures that tone perfectly.
