Dear Diary (1989) has become one of the most talked-about horror, comedy, and mystery films, and this guide covers everything you need before you press play. Led by Herbert Bautista and Gelli De Belen, the film balances spectacle with character. Below you'll find an honest look at the story, the people behind it, and whether it deserves a spot in your queue.
Inside the story of Dear Diary
At its core, Dear Diary follows a story that unfolds like this: Two teen stories in one movie. "Dear Partyline" tells the story of Badong who falls in love with a girl in a Coke commercial who happens to be the other half of their telephone party line. "Dear Killer" tells the story of Lenny and the mysterious disappearance of a girl who was considered the school's best Soprano singer.
Rather than rushing, the film lets tension build naturally, trusting the audience to keep up. Themes of ambition, loyalty, and consequence run throughout. For a frame-by-frame breakdown, the dedicated Wikipedia entry and IMDb trivia pages are excellent companions.
