Cancel My Reservation plot and story overview
Cancel My Reservation centers on a premise that unfolds like this: Bob Hope is a stressed out talk show host who is sent on a vacation to Arizona on doctor's orders and has to play Sherlock Holmes with his wife, the lovely Eva Marie Saint, to solve a series of murders that has Bob as the prime suspect.
Rather than rushing, the film lets tension build naturally, trusting the audience to keep up. The tagline — "It's Bob (Wanted dead or alive) Hope." — captures that tone perfectly. For a frame-by-frame breakdown, the dedicated Wikipedia entry and IMDb trivia pages are excellent companions.
