Belluscone: A Sicilian Story

At its core, Belluscone: A Sicilian Story follows a story that unfolds like this: This film tells the story of three defeats: Berlusconi’s political and human defeat in his “twilight”, the one of Ciccio Mirra, Berlusconi’s unconditional supporter, deeply rooted in an ancient culture that dies hard, and the director’s artistic defeat in an Italy that recognised itself in this “Berlusconian culture” for a long time, and probably still does.

Rather than rushing, the film lets tension build naturally, trusting the audience to keep up. Themes of ambition, loyalty, and consequence run throughout. For a frame-by-frame breakdown, the dedicated Wikipedia entry and IMDb trivia pages are excellent companions.

Belluscone: A Sicilian Story is anchored by Salvatore De Castro, Marcello Dell'Utri, Ciccio Mira, and Valentino Picone, working under the direction of Franco Maresco. Each performance brings a different texture to the film.

The script comes from Claudia Uzzo, whose writing keeps the dialogue sharp. You can trace the full credits and filmographies on IMDb and TMDB.
