Ambushed (1998) has become one of the most talked-about thriller, action, tv movie, and drama films, and this guide covers everything you need before you press play. Led by Courtney B. Vance and Virginia Madsen, the film balances spectacle with character. Read on for the full plot overview, the cast and crew, critical reception, and answers to the questions fans ask most.
Inside the story of Ambushed
Ambushed centers on a premise that unfolds like this: Jim Natter, the leader of a violent Ku Klux Klan lodge, is shot dead. His teenage son Eric Natter is found nearby, and taken into police custody for his protection pending the investigation. While four cops drive him to a safe-house, they are ambushed. Three of them shot dead, including Deputy Lawrence, and his black partner Jerry Robinson is accused of the murders.
What sets it apart is how it treats its thriller, action, tv movie, and drama elements not as decoration but as the engine of the plot. The tagline — "When a Klan leader is murdered, it lights the fuse to a race explosion. Now the only man who can put it out is the one everyone suspects." — captures that tone perfectly.
