Whether you are a longtime fan or discovering it for the first time, Alligator rewards viewers who know what to look for. Directed by Lewis Teague, the project blends horror, science fiction, and thriller into something that lingers long after the credits. Below you'll find an honest look at the story, the people behind it, and whether it deserves a spot in your queue.
The premise of Alligator, explained
At its core, Alligator follows a story that unfolds like this: A baby alligator is flushed down a toilet and survives by eating discarded lab animals that have been injected with growth hormones. The now gigantic animal escapes the city sewers and goes on a rampage, pursued by a cop and a big-game hunter.
What sets it apart is how it treats its horror, science fiction, and thriller elements not as decoration but as the engine of the plot. The tagline — "It lives 50 feet beneath the city. It's 36 feet long. It weighs 2,000 pounds...And it's about to break out!" — captures that tone perfectly.
